This podcast presents an overview of community-acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This episode will discuss its common clinical presentations, describe common treatment options, identify risk factors and highlight the importance of antimicrobial resistance and stewardship. This podcast was developed by Jordanna Roesler, a medical student at the University of British Columbia, under the guidance of  Dr. Wingfield Rehmus, a pediatric dermatologist at BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia, Dr. Jennifer Tam, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia, and Dr. Laura Sauvé, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia, and the chair of the CPS Infectious Diseases committee.

This podcast presents an approach to supporting children and families involved with the Canadian Foster Care system. Through the information provided in this episode, learners will get an overview of Foster Care in Alberta, the common challenges faced by children in the system, develop an approach to providing primary care to children in foster care, and understand special considerations of populations especially impacted by foster care. This podcast was created by Frances Morin, a fourth-year medical student at the University of British Columbia, with support and guidance from Dr. Barbara Fitzgerald, a developmental pediatrician and clinical associate professor of Pediatrics at the University of British Columbia.

This podcast presents the diagnosis and management of orbital and periorbital cellulitis. In this episode, listeners will learn about the the relevant anatomy, basic definitions, most likely etiologies, and most common presentations of periorbital and orbital cellulitis as well as the red flag features of severe disease. Furthermore, effective therapies, discharge criterion and follow-up plans for patients with periorbital and/or orbital cellulitis will be described. This podcast was developed by Zach Rumlow, a fourth-year medical student at Rocky Vista University in Colorado, with support from Dr. Peter Gill, a pediatrian from the University of Toronto and Alexandra Moody, a second-year medical student at Rocky Vista University who provided the anatomical illustrations in the script.
