This podcast will review keys to behavioural management and compliance during medical examination in typically developing young children. Listeners will learn how to define behaviour, perform an appropriate history and physical exam, and characterize common behavioural problems. It was written by Michelle Hanbidge and Dr. Debra Andrews. Michelle is a medical student at the University of Alberta and Dr. Andrews is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

This Podcast will discuss an approach to pediatric periorbital edema. In this episode, listeners will determine the key differential diagnoses for the presentation of periorbital edema and learn an approach to the history, physical exam, and diagnostic studies used. Key points that differentiate periorbital cellulitis from orbital cellulitis and the management of each will also be discussed. This episode reviews the management of IgE-mediated food allergies in children. At the end of the podcast, listeners will be able to define food allergy, develop and approach to the history and physical examination of a child with an allergic reaction to food, describe how a food allergy is diagnosed, discuss the treatment of allergic reaction to food, and outline long term risk reduction strategies for a food allergy. This podcast was developed by Cary Ma, a medical student at University of Alberta, in collaboration with Dr. Yarden Yanishevsky, a pediatric allergist, assistant professor and section head of pediatric allergy at the University of Alberta and Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
